On a recent stay in New York, we opted for the Marriott Renaissance Midtown – and it was really a pleasant surprise. This 4 star hotel is brand new, and punches above its weight because of its views, amenities, and the attentiveness of the staff. The chilled bottle of chardonnay that was waiting on the table when we arrived at our room on the 36th floor didn’t hurt either…
The proximity to Penn Station makes this a perfect stopover hotel with no Ubers being necessary to go to and from the station.
The panoramic views over the Hudson were stunning – especially at sunset, and the noise and madness of midtown Manhattan was – thankfully – a distant memory. The mattresses were cloud-like, and Aveda toiletries and comfy robes made for a cozy experience in spite of the industrial touches of exposed concrete and frosted glass (which I loved).
Definitely recommended for a quick layover, and potentially a pleasant surprise to those who would normally make a quick break for Brooklyn or the Lower East Side.
